Groton Girls' Soccer: 2014 NEPSAC Class B Champions!

11/18/2014
Groton’s girls soccer team clinched the NEPSAC Class B championship Sunday with a decisive 2-0 win over Wilbraham & Monson.

The girls delivered a one-two punch in the first half, with Dorrie Varley-Barrett ’15 scoring the first goal and Caitlyn DiSarcina ’17 putting another into the net about two minutes later. Caroline Morss '15 assisted on the first goal, and Carrie Moore '17 got the assist on the second.

Wilbraham & Monson could not recover. After a tight second half, the game ended with the Groton School girls victorious. The team had proved its mettle the day before with a nail-biting victory over Rivers School, a game that was scoreless throughout and ended in penalty kicks.

"The girls were confident, determined, and poised," said Coach Ryan Spring of Sunday's title match. "I was worried about a letdown after the Rivers game, but the Sixth Formers made sure we were up for it. I am just so proud of the team!"

Congratulations to Groton’s champions!
