Brooks School’s Field Hockey Wins NEPSAC Class B Tournament, Has Perfect 17-0-2 Season

NORTH ANDOVER – It was a perfect end to a perfect 17-0-2 season. In the NEPSAC Championship Class B final on Nov. 18 at Choate Rosemary Hall, first-seeded Brooks School triumphed over second-seed Rivers School to capture the win, 3-0.

“The girls relied on one another each and every day this season," said head coach Ali Mattison. "There was not just one standout on the field, rather each member contributed to the team's success."

Led by their 11 sixth-formers, the team was "focused and driven, working together to achieve monumental goals they set for themselves at the start of the season," Mattison added. "And not only did they accomplish their goals of winning both the ISL and the NEPSAC Class B championship, but they also completed an undefeated season for the first time in Brooks Field Hockey history!"

The stats say it all, with 64 goals scored throughout their 19 games (versus the mere 8 scored against them) — that included 12 shutouts.

"If you ask anyone on the team, they would attribute our success to teamwork, willingness to compete and improve each day, and the love of being together until the sun set on the Anna K. Trustey turf field," she said. "While this was a banner year led by strong upperclassmen, the underclassmen contributed in goals, defensive saves, and shutouts."

Next season, Mattison declared, "we will return a fifth-form goalie and 12 strong, two- way field hockey players. We can't wait to get back on the turf!"
