2014 Rivers Boys' Varsity Skiing Repeats as NEPSAC Class B Champs

The Rivers varsity boys’ ski team successfully defended its NEPSAC Class B Championship on Wednesday at Loon Mountain, claiming the 2014 Championship by taking both the giant slalom and slalom events. James Bradley ‘17, Ben Freeland ‘16, Stephen Richlen ‘15, Thomas Corcoran ‘15, and Ben Pasculano ‘15 represented the Red Wings, coached by Harry Finch and Ben Schwendener.

With a combined score of 37, Rivers finished 30 points ahead of second-place Concord Academy. Bradley and Freeland each earned All-New England honors in both events by virtue of their top 10 finishes, while Richlen was All-New England in the slalom.

In the giant slalom, Bradley was Rivers’ top finisher in fourth place with a total time of 65.86. Freeland and Richlen finished sixth and 11th, respectively, giving Rivers a total score of 21 which was 11 points ahead of second place finisher Taft.

In the slalom, Bradley was once again the Red Wings’ top finisher, this time finishing in third place with a total time of 56.93. Freeland came in just behind him in fourth with a total time of 58.08 while Richlen finished ninth with a total time of 60.00. With a total score of 16, Rivers finished 12 points ahead of Williston-Northampton.

This is the third consecutive year that Rivers has won a NEPSAC Championship in boys’ skiing after taking the 2012 Class C and 2013 Class B titles.
