ISL North Play Day a Success!
9/20/2021

On Saturday, September 18, Middlesex School hosted Brooks School, Governor's Academy, Groton School, and Lawrence Academy for the ISL North Volleyball Play Day event. Utilizing both courts in the gym, the teams each faced each other in short, twenty-five minute scrimmages during five rounds of play. When a team was not competing, its coaches and players officiated the other contests. The purpose of this event was to allow each team to practice their rotations and systems against other schools, as they prepare for the start of their seasons. Although teams did not wear uniforms, and no score was kept, the level of play was energetic and impressive, indicating there will be some great matches between these teams when they face each other again later in the season. This was the first volleyball contest hosted by Middlesex in twenty-two months, and the ebullient crowd supporting all five schools created an electric atmosphere in the gym that has been sorely missed during the pandemic. It was a successful day for all teams and the league as everyone embodied the ISL's values of sportsmanship and competition, and we are all excited to begin competitive play next week!

Middlesex opens its season on Wednesday, September 22, when the Zebras host Newton Country Day School for a 4pm match in the Cage.
